Former MLA Kunti Singh was elected as president of Janta Mazdoor Sangh (JMS)and her son Siddharth Gautam as General secretary during a meeting held at the union building on Sunday.
Kunti Singh had represented Jharia seat in Jharkhand assembly 2009 and 2014 and was working as general secretary of the union that was founded by her late husband Suryadeo Singh.
After the death of Suryadeo his brother Ramadhim Singh was on post but since he was awarded life sentence in jail for the last several years the voice of opposition was being raised by a faction led by Buccha Singh besides sitting MLA and Congress leader Poornima Neeraj Singh.
Poornima had been raising questions about how a convict was leading a union and even had raised the issue of registration before the registrar of trade unions. The registrar had served notice to the union in this regard .
In light of the notice the executive committee met on Sunday and elected Kunti as president unanimously.
Siddhart Gautam who was joint General secretary in absence of his brother Sanjeev Singh who too is in jail was appointed as General secretary. Gautam already is a JBCCI member representing Central trade union Hind Mazdoor Sabha to which the JMS is an affiliated union .
Besides , Nirsa MLA Aparna Sengupta has been appointed as vice president in a new committee besides some other leaders.
