Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on Sunday, directed officials to ensure uninterrupted power supply during Eid and Pasrshuram Jayanti.
The chief minister said during his recent Delhi visit, the Centre had assured that the state would get more electricity as well as additional rakes to transport coal to power plants.
Yogi Adityanath gave this direction during a routine meeting with senior officials here. The chief minister said the situation was normal at present and asserted that uninterrupted power supply should be ensured as per the roster.
”I had a positive conversation with the home minister, energy minister and the railway minister regarding power supply during my visit to Delhi. The ministers assured full cooperation. The Railways are going to give us additional rakes to transport coal and additional electricity will also be received from the Centre,” he said.
He observed that not a single consumer should get wrong’ electricity bill and everyone should get the bill on time.
“Over-billing or late billing not only bothers the consumer but also makes them disappointed with the system and the customer is not enthusiastic about paying the bill. So ensure that the correct bill is given on time. For this a concrete action plan is needed,” he added.
Stating that for the power supply to continue, it was necessary to ensure revenue realisation from the consumers. The chief minister said it was the responsibility of every consumer who consumed electricity to pay the bills as per schedule.
“The energy department and UP power corporation limited will have to make concerted efforts for time-bound collection of bills. Constantly contact and communicate with defaulters. Send correct bills on time. The collection system needs improvement,” the chief minister said.
Asking officials to keep the power supply uninterrupted on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, Parshuram Jayanti and Eid, the chief said there should not be unnecessary power cuts.
“Arrangements should be made for cleanliness, drinking water etc. around religious places and care should be taken for the convenience of the people,” he added.
Speaking about the free ration scheme for 15 crore people, the chief minister said availability of materials and the distribution system should be reviewed on regular intervals.
On the COVID-19 situation, the chief minister said presently there were 1,587 active cases in the state, and 99 per cent people were recovering at home and their condition was being monitored.
He said work of collecting samples from those who tested positive and genome sequencing should continue.
Meanwhile, the UP Power Consumers Forum said the power crisis was likely to be managed well as the chief minister himself had decided to lead from the front.
UP Power Consumers Forum chairman Avadesh Verma said if Coal India Limited provided additional coal and it was ferried to thermal power plants in UP, then there would be no need to buy imported coal.
He said the availability of additional 2,000 megawatt of electricity would be a big relief for the power consumers of the state. He said if the additional 15 rakes of coal is made available daily to thermal power stations of UP, then there would be no fuel crisis for the thermal power plants.
