Two persons including an electrical engineer and a worker both of a private contract firm working for Hindustan Urvarak and Rasayan Limited (HURL) at Sindri sustained burn injuries after a blast in the electrical panel of the upcoming fertilizer plant.
The incident took place around noon today leaving other workers in panic and the majority of them left the premises within minutes.
The engineer has been identified as 34 year-old Madhavan -V working here for the last three years and 31-year-old Asish Mondal were rushed to the Asian DDJ hospital located at a distance of over 25 kms in Dhanbad for treatment .
Both have sustained burn injuries on face and hands and in critical condition .
One of the attending doctors of the hospital said , our prime focus now is to secure their lives . We have the best plastic surgeons at our hospital and at a late stage they would be treated by them as per requirement , he added .
HURL general manager Kameshwar Jha said , an inquiry has been set up and soon it would give a report on causes of blast in the panel and then only we would fix responsibility . The victim engineer was an experienced man,he said. It's worth mentioning that the upcoming fertilizer factory has two captive power plants of 28.5 MW each for day to day needs of power supply. The incident took place in the main power substation , added Jha.
JHA said that since all machines were under testing and running condition our prime focus is on shutting down those safely .
The plant has a capacity of producing g 3850 tones of urea per day. Production at this plant is likely to take place in March this year if all commissioning and testing is complete on time .
