Wednesday, 20 July 2022 | Staff Reporter | Bhopal

Huge ruckus was created by locals and activists of right wing organisations after a cow and snakes were electrocuted at Rajvansh Colony.

People blocked the Karond bypass of the capital Bhopal on Tuesday morning, they were angry with the spread of current due to negligence by MPSEB in the Rajvansh Colony colony. A cow and snakes died after they came in contact with live electricity wires.

Afraid of this, people took to the road and started shouting slogans against the Municipal Corporation-Electricity Company. Nishatpura police reached the spot and explained to the people. However, the residents remained on the road till 12 noon.

Along with the residents, officials and workers of Vishwa Hindu Parishad also reached and joined the protest.

VHP activist Rajesh Sahu said that the drain passing through Rajvansh Colony has been encroached upon. Due to this, four to five feet of water is being filled in many houses of the colony in the rain. The electric transformer installed here is also half submerged in water. Due to this the current is spreading. A cow died of electrocution on Monday night. Four-five snakes were also found dead on Tuesday morning. Many people suffered electrocution. Fortunately, there was no major accident, but people are in awe.

Rajvansh Colony is opposite Bhopal Memorial Hospital. Angry people reached Karond bypass at 10 in the morning and created a ruckus.

Nishatpura police station reached the spot as soon as the news of the protest was received and removed the people. However, people remained standing on the side of the road and calling the responsibilities on the spot.

Residents said that they have complained with the electricity company and the municipal corporation to remove the encroachment from the drain and increase the height of the transformer, but till now nothing has been done.
