Chhattisgarh Urban Administration and Development Minister Dr. Shiv Kumar Dahariya on Wednesday said the rate of cleanliness, lighting and other charges are decided by Central guidelines. Chhattisgarh’s rates are less compared to other states.
The Minister was holding a discussion with representatives of the Traders Association, Raipur, led by former MLA Shrichand Sunderani here on the user charges.
The delegation handed over a representation to the Minister demanding a cut in the user charges.
The Minister said that charges for cleanliness, lighting and other charges have been decided based on Central government guidelines. The rates of residential and commercial user charges are less as compared to Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and other states.
Similarly, the disposal of solid waste management in urban bodies is done as per guidelines of the National Green Tribunal. The rate was fixed by the previous government in the state, which is being charged in urban bodies from the citizens, he said.
Making an appeal to the delegation, he said it is the responsibility of all to keep the surroundings clean. Every individual as a resident of any urban body should help to keep the city clean.
Based on the interest of traders and citizens, a decision will be taken, he said
