Maharashtra Power Minister Nitin Raut on Monday visited Chhattisgarh and sought early clearance for mining the Gare Pelma Sector -2 coal blocks in Raigarh district.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel assured Raut of all possible help in meeting the power requirements of Maharashtra and for clearances for initiating the mining work in the coal block.
Citing the power crisis, Raut told Baghel that with the start of mining from the block, the power production in Maharashtra would become consistent.
He urged the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister to complete the necessary formalities and recommend the Centre for coal block diversion.
Chhattisgarh’s Additional Chief Secretary Subrat Sahoo, Power Secretary Ankit Anand and CMD Maharashtra’s Power Co Purushottam Jadhav and Executive Director Nitin Wagh were present at the meeting.
