The Railway Protection Force (RPF),Gaya unit within the limits of ECR recovered over Rs 12,09,450 from Gaya railway station on Thursday night around 9 pm. One person has been detained in this connection. It is not known why the money was being transported, Railway officials said.
The RPF has handed over the money to Deputy Commissioner Income Tax (Research) Gaya for further investigation.
RPF sources  said that at around 23:00, under the direction of Inspector-in-Charge Railway Protection Force Post Gaya, in order of patrol and criminal surveillance by the officer and member of force, a person was sent to Gaya railway station at the entrance.  
He was found sitting in a suspicious condition on platform number one in front, on being questioned, he started panicking and told his name as Mohammad Shamshad age 32 years son of Sarfaraz Alam belonging to Abgila within limits of Buniyadganj police station of the district and he told that he was going from Gaya to Howrah by train  Barmer Howrah Superfast Express.
Whose reservation is in coach number S-5  and he is sitting here waiting for the arrival of the train and to inquire about the black colored bags in his possession.  

But he did not give any satisfactory answer,after being questioned by RPF officials, later after opening the bag in front of the witnesses present and checking it found 3 small bags containing bundles of Indian currency ₹ 3,60,000 in first beg, while in second beg containing ₹4,80,000 and ₹ 69450 were found his third beg. Altogether total Rs 12,09,450 recovered from his possession.
