Bokaro Power Supply Company Limited (BPSCL) has successfully auctioned about 2400 tonnes of fly ash from its unit and dispatched it by rail. Disposal of Ash has always been a problem for thermal power plants. BPSCL is always striving to dispose of the waste produced here in a meaningful way. Auctioning of Ash has not only helped in disposal of residues but has also brought additional financial benefits to the company. BPSCL, a joint venture between SAIL and Damodar Valley Corporation, supplies electricity and steam to SAIL's Bokaro Steel Plant. It has ensured supply of Ash to NHAI's road construction projects for proper disposal of its produce. It is also used for filling low lying areas inside and outside Bokaro Steel Plant. The company also supplies fly ash to the corresponding brick producers around Bokaro.
It’s noteworthy that for the disposal of fly ash by rail, the company has established two fly ash bagging machines so that fly ash can be disposed of in an eco-friendly manner on a large scale. The Fly ash of Bokaro Power Supply Company was auctioned by MSTC for disposal by rail and produced ash of Bokaro Power Supply Company has been sent to Bangladesh by Orient Export. This entire work was done by the Chief Executive Officer of Bokaro Power Supply Company, K.K. Thakur and CGM (In-Charge) of Power Plant V. Agrawal, CGM (Material Management) A.K. Das played a leading role. Along with this, Senior Manager PR Senam, Deputy Manager Amit Kumar also made contribution in the success of the work. Also with the cooperation of the traffic department of BSL, success was achieved in smooth execution of the work.
