A total of 71 rural roads will be built in Naxal affected areas of Jharkhand. The Union Home Ministry has given its in-principle approval for the construction of the roads in the State so that extremism could be prevented in the State.
After the approval of the road allocation of the Union Home Ministry, the Department of Rural Affairs, Government of Jharkhand has prepared a plan for the construction of 58 roads and 26 bridges and sent it to the Union Ministry of Rural Development for further action.
A meeting of the Pre-Employed Committee of the Union Ministry of Rural Development was held on December 21 for the scheme of road-bridge construction. Soon the approval for its construction will be taken in the next meeting of the Empowered Committee so that the work of the construction of the roads could be begun as early as possible.The Central Government has also asked to send DPRs of the remaining 13 road schemes. However, Jharkhand officials say that so far only 58 schemes have received approval letters from the Union Home Ministry, the remaining 13 are yet to receive approval letters. As soon as the letter is received from there, the DPR of the schemes will be prepared for the construction of the roads in naxal affected areas of the State.All the schemes have been taken under RCPLWEA Batch Rs 2. 315 crore will be spent in the construction of 58 bridges and 26 long bridges. In this, Rs 262 crore will be spent in road construction.In the month of October, a plan for construction of 125 roads and 71 bridges was approved from batch one of RCPLWE scheme in Naxal affected area of Jharkhand. A total of Rs 765 crore will be spent on this. Jharkhand State Rural Road Development Authority under Rural Works Department is starting work on all the schemes by tendering and others.
