Two vehicles caught fire in Bermo area here on Monday. The incident took place at Gomia police station. A massive fire broke out in two trucks laden with coal parked in the police station premises around 4.45 am on Monday morning.

On receiving information about the fire, police officials of Gomia PS reached the spot and the incident was reported to the fire brigade of IEL and Tenughat.  The fire brigade vehicle reached the spot and started extinguishing the fire.  The flames were so strong that it took almost four hours to extinguish it. At present, the cause of the fire is not known, said Ashish Khakha officer-in charge of Gomia police station.

Regarding the incident, police station in-charge Ashish Khakha said that in the old case of 2011, both the trucks laden with coal were standing outside the police station for years. At around 4.45 am, information was received that the truck had suddenly caught fire. When he reached the spot, he saw that a truck was on fire.

At the same time, the flames also engulfed another truck parked nearby. After this both the trucks started burning with smoke.

He said that one truck was completely burnt due to the fire, while the fire in the other truck was doused in time so it did less damage.

Last night a procession of marriage ceremony passed nearby and firecrackers were going on. There is a possibility that the same firecracker spark would have started the fire but it is only an apprehension, the true facts will be known only after investigation, and very soon the situation will become clear, added Officer-in charge.

In this regard, Gomia police station in-charge Ashish Khakha said that both the trucks were confiscated in 2014.

Ashish Khakha said that how the fire started, its concrete information has not been received yet.  However, it is being speculated that the fire started due to the spark of firecrackers.

Ashish Khakha said that at around four o'clock in the morning, both the trucks were seen on fire.  He said that the flames were so strong that there was a possibility of fire in the seized trucks kept nearby.  But the fire brigade personnel managed to control the fire after a lot of effort.
