A 24-year-old woman died on Tuesday after being administered the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine at the Kalampur Community Health Centre (CHC) in Kalahandi district.
Binodini Sagar, a resident of Mathiapada in Bijmapara panchayat who was married two years ago, and her husband Bhisma Sagar had gone to the CHC, where she was vaccinated at 11 am. After taking rest for half an hour in the hospital, the couple went to the market by a bike for shopping where she felt unwell. She was brought to the hospital by an auto and doctors declared her brought dead.Bhisma Sagar said she was fine before inoculation. “I insisted her for vaccination, but she died,” he said. The family members of the deceased demanded the body without postmortem.
Kalahandi CDMO Pratap Behera said an undertaking by the deceased’s in-laws and parents were taken and the body was handed over to the family members without postmortem. “Adverse reaction was seen in the person’s body out of one lakh inoculation cases. She was the fourth person administered Covishield today. There were no complaints from other persons. After the incident, the inoculation was cancelled in the hospital for the entire day,” the CDMO said.
