It’s our own decisions which essentially define our lives. A great example would be Sabarna Roy, a civil engineer with almost 20 years of experience who chose to become an author.
With over 100,000 copies of his books sold, Roy depicts life’s peculiarities with a professional’s finesse in each of his works which include 6 critically acclaimed books - Pentacles; Frosted Glass; Abyss; Winter Poems; Random Subterranean Mosaic: 2012 – 2018, and Etchings of the First Quarter of 2020.
“My first book – an anthology of English poems – titled: Pain was published in 1986. It created quite a stir in the students’ community in Calcutta, including literary academia. Writing took a backseat when I joined the corporate sector, but in 2007 I started writing again and haven’t ever suffered writer’s block simply because I write about life, which is happening even as we sleep. I am perceptible and sensitive and I can see how and why a situation can affect someone in a particular way. I can even anticipate their response and this makes writing easy,” says Roy.
Being a master of his craft, Roy seems to deftly weave compelling tales around lives of characters that are a lot like us. Readers who like hard hitting fiction about life with poetic realism just love Roy’s works.
His latest book, Fractured Mosaic is yet another kaleidoscope that will take readers into a mesmerizing whirlpool of philosophy, politics, and stories. Most of Roy’s works published in the book have earlier been published in reputed media houses as his musings. Fractured Mosaic is expected to be available in bookstores from February 2021.
