Chhattisgarh's two biggest cities—Raipur and Bilaspur — have made it among the top 10 cities in the country for excellent showing in the Municipal Performance Index.

Raipur city has secured the 7th rank in the category of cities with a population more than 10 lakhs while Bilaspur also came 7th among cities with a population less than 10 lakhs.

Urban administration bodies of both the cities hold the 7th rank in the country in providing basic civic amenities to the people.

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs announced the results of the Municipal Performance Index competition on Thursday in Delhi.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel congratulated the people, public representatives and urban administration departments of Raipur and Bilaspur for the achievement.

He said it was a matter of pride that Chhattisgarh was constantly being rewarded for outstanding works done in the urban areas.

Last year, the Central government ruled Chhattisgarh as the cleanest state in the country.
