State government on Thursday appointed 1987 batch IPS officer, Niraj Sinha as the new Director General of Police (DGP). The Department of Home, Prison and Disaster Management on Thursday evening issued a notification regarding appointment of Sinha as the new DGP. Sinha prior to appointment of new DGP was heading the post of Additional DG of Anti Corruption Bureau. Ironically, Sinha was SSP Ranchi when incumbent Chief Secretary Sukhdeo Singh was DC, Ranchi in the nineties. In 2019, the Jharkhand Government had submitted names of three IPS officers in the panel for DGP post. Sinha’s name was in the list.
