A significant number of farmers are unable to sell their paddy as their names are missing from the Master Farmers’ list in Nuapada district.
While 36 farmers of Rishigaon, Tukla and Sargadi villages attached to the Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society (PACS) of Tukla have submitted in writing to the district and State authorities, many others have complained to the ARCS, Nuapada for inclusion of their names in the Master Farmers’ list.
"CSO, Nuapada vide his letter no.5090, Dt.30, December has requested the Commissioner, FS&CW, for correction of the Master Farmers’ data, but it is learnt from the office of the Commissioner, FS&CW that the file pending there," said Fakira Jagat, a farmer of Tukla.
Asanda Singh Deo, a farmer of Rishigaon village, is waiting since last two weeks to sale of over 100 quintals of paddy. Binod Bihari Pattnaik, Amulya Dash, Ballava Dash, Nabin Meher and several other farmers, who are members of the Tukla PACS, have been denied permission as their names are missing from the data.
"We have over three thousand quintals of paddy for sale. The Revenue Department verified our cases and submitted a report to the CAO, but we don't understand why our names are yet to be included," reacted Ballava Dash, a farmer of Tukla.
