International conference on human rights begins at Dharmashastra National Law University

The International Conference on “Changing Dimensions of Human Rights in Globalised World”, commenced here on Saturday at Dharmashastra National Law University.

The conference began with the inaugural ceremony which was conducted virtually on Saturday. The ceremony began with the warm welcome of Chief Guest Justice Mohammad Rafiq, Chief Justice of High Court of Madhya Pradesh, and Chancellor of Dharmashastra National Law University and Justice A.K.Goel, Chairperson, National Green Tribunal followed by welcome to the Guest of Honour Hon’ble Shri Justice

AK Mittal former Chief Justice of High Court of Madhya Pradesh, and Chancellor of Dharmashastra National Law University by Prof. Balraj Chauhan Vice- Chancellor, Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur. Prof. Balraj Chauhan, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor expressed his views and explained crucially important aspects of Human Rights in the contemporary world and how Human Rights played pivotal role in global context.

In addition, he outlined the emphasis on some germane issues that are matter of concern for research scholars and academics with regard to Human Rights. He quoted some of the noted legal jurists and explained the fundamental rights that are associated with Human Beings.

Thereafter, Justice A.K. Mittal talked about the importance of Human Rights in Vedic period in relation to the international norms for the Human Rights. He quoted the articles of Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) explaining the importance of the protection of Human Rights with the collaboration of policymakers and society. Justice AK Goel, Chairperson, National Green Tribunal highlighted the importance of Human Rights in the Indian context with its culture. He quoted the essentiality of Human Rights with pertinence to the theme of the conference. He remarkably mentioned the protection of Human Right and potential threats to the Human Rights in the globalized setting.

Justice Mohammad Rafiq talked about the Human Rights of different marginalised sections of the society and how the globalised definition of Human Rights is providing them protection. Soon after the ceremony, the E- souvenir and edited book was released in the presence of Chief Guests and Guests of Honor.

In the end of 1st session, Registrar Anand Kumar Tiwari proposed the vote of thanks and congratulated the Convener Shilpa Jain, (Associate Professor) and coordinators Veena Roshan Jose and Gautam Gupta, (Assistant Professors) and the organizing team of the conference.

In the second session, an expert talk session was scheduled in the evening where the speakers across the world such as Prof. Mizanur Rahmaan, (University of Dhaka, Bangladesh), Prof. Antonietta Elia (University of Santiago, Spain), Karabo Ozah, (University of Pretoria), Julia Selman Ayetey (Mc Gill University), Marium Jabyn (Maldives) Daniel Stewart (USA) delivered their valuable insights on the theme of the conference.
