EX-CHIEF SECY RN DAS PASSES AWAY
Bhubaneswar: Former Odisha Chief Secretary Rabi Narayan Das passed away while undergoing treatment at a private hospital here at around 10 am on Tuesday. He was in his 80s. He had been admitted to the hospital due to age-related ailments. Das served as the Chief Secretary during the regimes of JB Patnaik and Biju Patnaik between December 1, 1992 and September 30, 1995. He was the State’s 28th Chief Secretary.
TOY TRAIN RIDE AT N’KANAN RESUMED
Bhubaneswar: The toy train ride facility at the Nandankanan Zoological Park here, which had been suspended after a fire mishap, was resumed from Tuesday. A total of six trips are available in a day between 10 am and 4 pm. A maximum of 72 visitors are allowed in a single trip of the ride. Tickets are issued 30 minutes prior to the ride.
BRAHMAPUR PRESS CLUB HOLDS PRESS DAY
Brahmapur: The Press Club of Brahmapur observed the National Press Day here on Tuesday. A meeting was held over which club president Gopal Pattnaik presided. Ganjam DIPRO Rabinarayan Behera was chief guest and senior journalist Dr Jagan Mohan Mahapatra guest of honour. Behera spoke on the significant role played by journalists during the Covid-19 pandemic. The State Government has taken a plethora of initiatives and ensured benefits for the journalists in recognition of their hard work, he added. Dr Jagan Mahapatra urged upon the young and new-generation journalists to measure up to the profession in its true spirit and lay emphasis on correct reporting.
SISU MOHATSAVA SURAVI HELD IN JSPUR
Jagatsinghpur: A district-level Sisu Mohatsava, ‘Suravi’, was celebrated in the Government Girls’ High School premises here on Sunday. Inaugurating the celebration, Collector Parul Patwari emphasised the roles of parents and teachers in building a child's character. A child, if well-oriented ethically and spiritually from the beginning, would be a good citizen in society, the collector said. District Education Officer Niranjan Behera chaired the meeting. Additional DEO Rajashre Sahoo and high school headmistress Mamata Manjari Mohanty also spoke. A girl, Abhilipsa Bhola, of the Alipingal High School was felicitated by the Collector for contributing a project that was acclaimed at the national level.
PARADIP YOGA PARTICIPANTS HOLD MEET
Paradip: A get-together of yoga participants on behalf of the Morning Yoga Club, which is organising yoga everyday in Paradip, was held at the premises of the Mausima Temple. Distinguished people residing in Paradip attended the event. Mahaprasad was brought from Puri and distributed among the yoga participants to maintain friendship. Yoga guru Tapas Ranjan Pati, Sushant Kumar Sethi, Utkal Rout, Sumanth Swain (Alok) Sangram Bishwal, Jitendra Kumar Bal, Kailash Chandra Sahu, Kirtishwar Parida, Sanyukta Mohanty, Manjushree Bishwal, Anita Baral, Shubhshree Pradhan, Subhasmita Sahu, Kiran Bala Swain and Prafuli Behera coordinated the event.
SWACHHTA PAKHWADA AT PARADIP PORT ENDs
Paradip: Observance of the Swachhta Pakhwada concluded at the Paradip Port on Monday. PPT Chairman PL Haranadh gave away prizes to the winners of various competitions held among local schoolchildren to mark the occasion. A play “Ebe Nuhen ta Kebe Nuhen” was staged by local cultural organisation CANMASS. PPT Deputy Chairman AK Bose and other officials were present. A beach clean drive was undertaken in which Haranadh and Bose participated. During the Pakhwada, various activities like awareness drive among PPT workers and staffs, Swacchata Rath and digital displays on Swachhata at important locations in the township were undertaken.
