Dr Farhan Khan, Senior Resident of MGM Medical College, Aurangabad said that the second wave of Covid-19 has presented with different signs and symptoms. It is a challenge for every front line health worker.
While talking to The Pioneer, Dr Khan, who hails from Rajgarh (Madhya Pradesh) said, "Being a senior resident in pathology what I'm experiencing is false positive tests in Covid-19 patient. Test like widal test done for typhoid is coming false positive because of local endemicity titre and people interpreting it as typhoid fever without consulting with the registered doctors which is leading to late arrival of patients to hospitals."
Same is with NS-1 antigen done for dengue fever, false positivity is seen in it because of antigenic proteins present on the virus surface. "So, I suggest to go for rapid antigen test or RT PCR test for covid as soon as you get symptoms. Only solution to this Covid crisis management is 3E- Early diagnosis, Early hospitalisation and Early management," he added.
