Accomplished HR professional, an engineer and philanthropist JN Singh (78), who worked as Director (Personnel) of Western Coalfields Ltd (WCL) and South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) passed away here in Ranchi on March 24. Singh, a veteran of Coal Industry is survived by his wife, son, daughter, and three grandchildren. Singh was an alumnus of I.S.M Dhanbad and a multifaceted individual. He also worked in Central Coalfields Ltd. (CCL) as General Manager (Administration).
Singh served as the Secretary General of Coal Mines Officer Association of India. It was under his leadership that various issues of the executives of the company were resolved. After his retirement, he continued to be associated with the cause of the superannuated employees and served as the chairman of Retired Coal Mines Employees Federation.
Singh was associated with various philanthropic works and opened a school in his village Sadipur, Bhagalpur, Bihar for the deprived society. He was an erudite person and wrote books on mining engineering and learning English.
His friends and associates remember him as a dynamic individual always ready to learn new things and take new responsibilities. They deeply mourn his death and vowed to continue following his ideology.
Describing him as HR professional, engineer and philanthropist, the CMD CCL PM Prasad recalled his services in the field of coal industry.
He conveyed his condolences to the members of the bereaved family.
