Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday directed the officials to immediately dissolve Capital project Administration (CPA). He was reviewing the condition of roads in the State capital.
To the poor condition of roads, the officials informed that the roads at some places belong to the CPA, while most of them are under the jurisdiction of the Public Works Department (PWD). On this, annoyed Chouhan told to immediately dissolve the CPA, so that only PWD would be responsible for the condition of roads.
Chouhan said that four agencies PWD, Municipal Corporation, CPA and Bhopal Development Authority are doing the road work in Bhopal city. Due to the presence of more agencies, the work cannot be done quickly. There is no need for CPA (Capital Project Administration), so its work should be terminated immediately. Chouhan instructed Chief Secretary Bains to fix agencies for the work.
Chouhan was taking a meeting in Mantralaya on Friday regarding the maintenance of the roads of Bhopal. Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains, Principal Secretary Neeraj Mandloi, Divisional Commissioner Bhopal Kavindra Kiyawat, Collector Bhopal Avinash Lavania and others were present.
Notably, after the formation of Madhya Pradesh in 1956, the CPA was formed on October 01, 1960 under the Department of Housing and Environment to develop the city systematically. Its approval was given by the Planning Commission, Government of India. The job of the CPA was to build and maintain the roads of Bhopal city.
Besides, the construction and maintenance of Pakistan and Government buildings was also the work of the CPA.
During the review meeting, the officials told Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan that the roads of Bhopal city have been built and maintained by four agencies namely PWD, CPA, Municipal Corporation and BDA. The Chief Minister said that there should not be 4 agencies for the roads of a city. Change tradition, starting today, CPA ends with immediate effect.
