Another dead rare dolphin found at Paradip

Another dead endangered species, Long Snouted Spinner Dolphin (Stenella Dolphin) has been recovered off the coast of Paradip. The 5'6"-long dolphin weighed about 50 kilogram.

This Stenella Dolphin is rarely found in Indian oceans. But less than 15 days before, a body a male Stenella Dolphin had also been recoverd from the beach behind the Hanuman Temple near Gate No. 5 of the Paradip Port.On Thursday, the carcass of the female Stenella Dolphin was recovered from the South Gate of the Paradip Refinery (IOCL). The top of its body was dark black colour while its face looked like a long mouth. After receiving the news, Kujang forest officials took the dolphin for postmortem.

"Dolphins of this species are found in countries such as Brazil and France. The cause of death of the two rare dolphins has not been determined in the last 15 days, but it will be known after the autopsy," forest officials said.
