District administration has identified eighteen children who were orphaned due to Covid and the Child Protection Committee here has initiated steps for rehabilitation of these kids as per Government instructions.
District Child protection officer (DCPO) Sadhana Kumari said all identified kids are up to the age of 18 years and are being taken care of by their relatives.
As per Government instructions, the identified kids would be provided with a Sambal Sathi kit that includes ration and other essentials.
In case any one is not being taken care of by relatives, he or she would be shifted to care and rehabilitation homes. The girls would be sent to a shelter home near Bhuiphod and boys to Bastakola based rehabilitation centre, said the DCPO.
The DCPO said helpline numbers too have been issued to collect more information and identification of such kids in the district.
Former member of district child helpline and chairman of Jharkhand Gramin Vikash Trust, Shankar Rawani said his trust too is working in association with Kailash Satyarthi Children Foundation for identification of such kids so that they may be taken care by the Satyarthi foundation.
