Chhattisgarh plans to open girls' colleges and girls' hostels in every district, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel announced on Sunday in his monthly radio talk in which he pledged to protect women's rights and self-respect.

Detailing the work done for women in various       fields including education, health and independence, he said the participation of women power will spark an economic revolution in Chhattisgarh that will become a sustainable model of development.

He said that with the help of schemes launched by the government, women in forest and rural areas are becoming self-sufficient.

The Lokvaani episode also saw Baghel urging women to cooperate in the Covid-19 vaccination drive.

In order to secure the rights of women, a provision will be made to compulsorily appoint a woman representative in the committee to be constituted for recruitment, promotion and scrutiny of documents, he said.

After 26 years, permanent recruitment of teachers has started in the state.

The Chief Minister said 10,000 women have been included under the Mission Clean City project. A total of 1.85 lakh women have been linked with self-employment activities through women self-help groups.

Protection officers have been appointed in each district to protect women from domestic violence.

The government has set a target to open girls' colleges and girls' hostels in every district.

Baghel said the Mukhyamantri Suposhan Abhiyan was started to wage a decisive battle against malnutrition and anaemia. Locally available nutritious food is promoted so that the people get nutrients from their choice of food.

He said that in 1,000 secondary schools and 74 girls' hostels, girls are imparted training of judo and karate.

"We have set a target of providing access to pure drinking water in all 45 lakh rural houses by 2023. I believe that women will benefit greatly from this facility."
