Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Sunday said the newly established Bastar Academy of Dance, Art and Language (BADAL) will play an important role in preserving and promoting the tribal culture of Bastar.
He was addressing the public dedication function of the new building of the academy being constructed in Asna village at the outskirts of Jagdalpur, the district headquarters of Bastar region.
The Chief Minister said: “The BADAL Academy will play an important role in the preservation and promotion of folk dance, local dialects, literature and craftsmanship of Bastar.”
“Through this academy, knowledge about various tribal cultures of Bastar will be passed on to the next generation,” he said.
The three buildings built in the campus of BADAL Academy have been named after the martyrs of Bastar region -- Jhada Sirha, Gendsingh and Gundadhur.
On this occasion, an MoU was signed between BADAL Academy and Indira Kala Sangeet Vishvavidyalaya, Khairagarh. Both institutions have agreed to work together for preservation and promotion of folk dance and folk music.
