A solar powered mobile tower has been installed in Chhattisgarh's Orchha block, an area affected by Naxalite violence in Bastar division, greatly benefitting villagers, in particular the students.
The Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA) in association with the telecommunication department and district administration has started operating the mobile tower by installing 15 KW solar power plant, an official press release said.
In a first of its kind, a single base transceiver station (BTS) tower is being operated through the DC electrical system from the solar plant, the statement said.
The plant has the support of two battery banks each of 48v 1,000Ah and is connected through the master control unit to supply 24x7 uninterrupted power to the solar powered mobile tower, the statement said.
The villagers and others in bordering areas are getting reaping the benefits of 24x7 mobile network connectivity in Orchha block. It has helped students in their online education classes.
It also has given mobile connectivity in government offices, health centers, banks, police stations, base camps, ashrams, hostels, schools and other institutions, the press release added.
