RPN Singh retains JPCC in-charge post

Sunday, 13 September 2020 | PNS | Ranchi

All India Congress Committee (AICC) has once again reposed confidence in party leader RPN Singh, who had been instrumental in victory of Congress Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) alliance in the State Assembly in 2019. The party appointed Singh as In-Charge of Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC).

Singh was appointed for the post for the first time on July 12, 2017. Singh became the first leader to hold the post of JPCC incharge for the second time after the formation of the State. This decision has been taken in the high-level meeting of AICC on Friday. AICC National Secretary, KC Venugopal formally confirmed that the party reposed faith in Singh for the post once again.

It may be noted that in Singh’s three-year tenure, he faced many hurdles in JPCC. His calm personality has been very effective to stop infighting among the party leaders. Under his leadership, the JPCC was successful in winning elections in the State Assembly elections at most seats on which it contested under the alliance. In the assembly elections, the Congress won 16 seats which happened for the first time after the formation of the State.

Meanwhile, JPCC Chief, Rameshwar Oraon said that reshuffle in the organization is a natural process. He said that the National General Secretary did a much better job of strengthening the organisation and after the completion of his term; new people have been entrusted with the responsibility.

Oraon said RPN Singh as Congress in-charge of Jharkhand did much better, so he has been given the responsibility again. On the issue of expansion and formation of the JPCC Oraon said the work of organisation expansion will be completed soon, due to the Corona infection it delayed. He said that even today he is going to visit the Bermo assembly constituency; he will meet with block level party workers there and discuss election preparations.
