Health Minister Naba Kishor Dash visited Nuapada district on Friday and discussed with the district administration about Covid-19 preparedness.
He first visited the Covid hospital at Sildha under Nuapada block and moved to Khariar to see the Mother and Child Care Unit of the Khariar CHC, which is now functioning in a newly constructed building at Chanabeda. The Minister advised officers to remain extra cautious as the district is located on the border.
Khariar MLA Adhiraj Mohan Panigrahi submitted a memorandum to the Minister, demanding establishment of a dialysis facility at the Khariar CHC.
“A large number of people in this area are suffering from kidney ailments. This necessitates establishment of a dialysis unit,” stated Panigrahi.
While the Khariar CHC has been given the status of a Sub-Divisional Hospital (SDH) since October 2017, still it lacks adequate personnel and infrastructures. Posts of specialist doctors are still vacant and the drug distribution centre is run by only one pharmacist, creating difficulties for serving more than 300 daily outdoor patients. These need to be resolved soon, he said.
The Minister assured that the Government would take all possible measures to address the issues raised by the MLA.
Nuapada MLA Rajendra Dholakia, District Collector Madhusmita Sahu and CDMO Dr Dinabandhu Mahanand accompanied the Minister during the hospital visit.
