n A four-day Kalahandi Utsav - Ghumura -2020 was inaugurated here on Tuesday. The festival aims to showcase the rich folk culture of the district.
Torch rallies were taken out from the Manikeswari temple of Thuamul Rampur, Shiva temple of Mohangiri, Budharaja temple of Ampani, Manikeswari temple of Bhawanipatna and Urladani, the soil of martyr Rindo Majhi and culminated at the venue.
Leader of Opposition Pradipta Kumar Naik inaugurated the festival in the presence of Zilla Parishad chairperson Namitarani Sahu, Narla MLA Bhupinder Singh, Dharmagarh MLA Mousudhi Bag, Lanjigarh MLA Pradeep Disari and Collector, Kalahandi, Gavali Parag Harshad.
Folk dances like Ghumura and Gotipua were performed by the artistes. Artistes from various States were scheduled to perform on the stage during the festival.
Similarly, a Palishree Mela was organised to exhibit local crafts and products by the district administration. The festival will also be celebrated at Dharamgarh from January 15 to 17.
