Ujjain STF have busted a gang involved in producing counterfeit currency notes and recovered fake currency notes Rs 9 lakh from four gang members were arrested.
Fake currency worth Rs 9 lakh was recovered from gang on Friday after monitoring his movements for past few days. All the notes are of the denomination of Rs 2000. The nabbed accused have circulated huge amount of fake notes in gambling and betting. In the arrest STF has also seized raw materials used by the gang member to produce counterfeit currency notes.
Under the supervision of STF Ujjain SP Gitesh Kumar Garg, team of Inspector Deepika Shinde in-charge STF Ujjain unit carried out this operation.
According to the information, STF was informed that two people supplying fake currency from Indore to Ujjain would arrive at the Nanakheda bus stand and based on the information team rushed to spot and arrested Sunil and Shri Ram Gupta who came from Indore.
During the further investigation STF has also arrested Kiran Sodankar and Anand from Nanakheda in Ujjain who were customers and would circulate and sell the counterfeit currency notes in Ujjain and other areas.
Police have registered a case under sections 489 A, B, C and D and 34 of the IPC and started search for other members of the nexus. The buyers of these counterfeit currency notes would be investigated.
The regions were the gang members used to circulate fake currency notes would be investigated. The period for which the gang members were active is not clear and would be found.
