In yet another gross slackness on Covid19 infection, a man and his son, both doctors by profession, have been booked by police on Friday for defying home quarantine orders.
Father Dr Dilip Gupta, director of Gupta Nursing Home in Ujjain has been tested positive. As administration had ordered them to remain in quarantine post April 20, the duo defied directives and in last few days have treated 130 patients.
A local man Rajkumar Ved, had died while being treated at Gupta Nursing Home on April 20 in Badnagar, Ujjain. Ved had later been tested positive for Covid19 so the administration had immediately directed Dr Dilip Gupta and his son, Dr Anshul and their staff to remain in home quarantine and also asked them not to treat patients.
However, the father-son defied instructions and kept attending patients. After their samples were taken, Dr Dilip Gupta, one of the physicians of his Nursing Home and two staff nurses too were tested positive for the virus.
Dr Anshul Gupta however has been tested negative.
The administration went into tizzy after learning that the father-son duo had risked lives of all these 130 patients while defying Government directives and the police booked them on Friday on charges of negligence and spreading corona infection.
Dinesh Prajapati, SHO Badnagar told that SDM Ekta Jaiswal had directed the Gupta Nursing Home proprietors to stay in home quarantine with the staff after one Rajukumar Ved had died and tested positive for corona virus. But the physicians defied the orders and kept treating patients which could lead to infection among others so we have booked them under sections 188, 269, 270 and 271 of IPC.
Notably, Ujjain is among Covid19 red zones of Madhya Pradesh and reported 141 positive cases including 24 deaths.
