Cyber Cell, Bhopal has booked a miscreant, who was involved in duping victim to the tune of Rs 5000 in the name of ailing daughter by sending message over facebook; several other victims were sent with the same message on April 27.
According to the police, the victim Balista Rawat made a payment of Rs 5000 to help the ailing daughter of accused which was a fraud in which he got trapped.
A complaint was lodged by victim who has Facebook profile in the name of Balista Rawat stating that at 7.20 in the evening on April 27 he received a message over Facebook messenger from Facebook profile in the name of Pandit Phoolchand Shastri that his ailing daughter require treatment and Rs 5000 is required, he then provided mobile number of Surendra Yadav for making payment through mobile wallet. The victim payment of Rs 5000 in two parts of Rs 1000 and Rs 4000.
The accused provided mobile number as 9126577925 while paytm bank account number 918696293873, IFC number paytm 0123456.
On April 28 victim’s friend Virendra Tripathi informed that several requests for help regarding medical emergency are sent from his Facebook profile. The messages continued till 9.45 in the night.
The victim initially contacted Chhola Mandir police station which was in vain as the number provided of cyber cell failed to respond, he contacted HDFC bank and paytm but it was of no use. Finally, on April 29 victim lodged complaint with the cyber cell Bhopal. The police have registered a case of fraud.
