Covid tests increased by 650 times in UP

With around 40,000 coronavirus tests being carried out per day, Uttar Pradesh joins the group of leading states of India in Covid tests which have increased 650 times in the state.

Additional Chief Secretary (Medical and Health) Amit Mohan Prasad said that Covid testing was being done in the state at a faster pace. “Maximum 39,623 samples were examined in one day on Saturday. In this way, a total of 11,56,089 samples have been tested so far in the state, crossing the 11 lakh mark in the investigation of COVID-19. With this, the state has joined the leading states of the country in coronavirus tests,” he told reporters on Sunday.

He said that testing of coronavirus infection in the state had increased from 60 per day to about 40,000 per day, which was more than 650 times. “Of the 39,623 tests carried out on Saturday, a total of 2442 were examined under the pool test — 2098 pools of 5 samples each and 344 pools of 10 samples,” he said.

Prasad said that 12,208 coronavirus cases were active in the state. He said that so far 23,334 COVID-19 patients had been fully treated.

He said that 6,11,43,056 people from 1,19,64,948 households had been surveyed by 1,64,788 surveillance teams.

“Over two  lakh people have got information through alerts generated by the Arogya Setu app. Besides, continuous calls are also being made from CM Helpline,” he said.

Prasad said that door-to-door medical screening was being done in Meerut division from July 2 and it ended on Sunday. He said screening across the state would continue till July 15.

“So far 12,94,35,139 people from 2,51,94,708 households have been surveyed by 5,88,759 surveillance team. People suffering from other diseases, like 8,48,593 of diabetes, 2,38,238 of high blood pressure, 18,018 of cancer, 54,247 of heart disease and 16,879 kidney patients, have been found,” he said.
