ctress Deepa Sahu, who was suffering from cancer, passed away while undergoing treatment at a private hospital here on Monday. She is survived by her husband Manindra Dutta and a daughter.
Deepa, who was popular in the Odia album industry, had been diagnosed with cancer a year ago. After her condition worsened, she was admitted to the Capital Hospital by actor-turned BJP leader Akhil Pattnaik and social activist Prashant Nayak on June 20. After a few days, she was shifted to the AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
Deepa had debuted in Ollywood with film ‘Nari Akhire Niyan’.
Prominent persons, including Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, mourned her demise, which, they said, created a void in the Odia album industry.
