2nd World War soldier’s death anniversary held

The 47th death anniversary of noted freedom fighter, social worker and a brave Army soldier of the Second World War time Gobinda Panda was observed at his Gandhinagar 3rd Lane Extension residence here on Sunday.

Born in Alladigaon under Purushottampur block in Ganjam district, Panda served Indian Army in 1940s and participated in the Second World War. Later, he was involved in social works in his native area.

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 lockdown, the ceremony was confined to his family only. Among others, grandchildren Er Anjan K Panda, Sasmita and Shreya were present.

Panda is remembered for his patriotic values, social work, amicable approach and discipline, said his third son Prof Krushna Chandra Panda. Former Deputy Speaker in State Assembly Rama Chandra Panda, Kishore Chandra Panda and former Indian Rare Earths Limited officer Purnna Chandra Panda are his other sons.
