‘Wanted to be a Rohit Shetty hero’

Actor Ranveer Singh, who worked with director Rohit Shetty in the blockbuster Simmba, said he always wanted to be his hero.

“Rohit is the king of the action-entertainment and the masala genre. I always wanted to be his hero and when I got this opportunity, I gave it my all. Both of us are entertainers at our core. We like entertaining the audience to the hilt,” he said.

He added that his character, “Sangram Bhalerao will always stay extraordinarily close to my heart because I got to act in a film, in a genre which was my home territory. I’m thankful to Rohit Shetty for believing in me.”

‘Web space gives you lot of freedom and one needs to be very responsible with it. Using sex and violence just to attract the eyeballs is something that I don’t agree with, especially when it’s not even required. Also, about censoring, it’s better to give the right to the directors to censor their films. They should do it and need to be trusted upon.’

Actor Ganesh Venkatraman will host the Tamil version of Crime Patrol, to air on SonyLIV, and step into the shoes of actor Anup Soni of the Hindi series.

The Kandahar-fame actor said, “Creating awareness about crime is a serious job and I am happy to team up with a very passionate team. I truly believe Crime Patrol is not just a format-breaking series but a path-breaking one for the Tamil audience. My grandfather was a police officer and my father is a lawyer, so naturally law and order runs in my blood.”
