The Yogi Adityanath government has constituted an 11-member Uttar Pradesh Vyapari Kalyan Board.
The traders’ welfare board is headed by Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former minister Ravi Kant Garg.
All members of the board will be given honorarium and allowances.
Board’s chairman Ravi Kant Garg, a former MLA from Mathura, said they would look after the welfare of traders and business community and also co-ordinate with the government for resolution of various problems faced by the traders.
Garg was Minister of State in the first BJP government in UP headed by Kalyan |Singh in 1991.
The other members are Pushpdutt Jain (vice-chairman) from Gorakhpur, Ashok Kumar Goel (Ghaziabad), Manish Gupta (Lucknow), Murarilal Agarwal and six others.
The Yogi Adityanath government in April 2017 had announced to constitute a welfare board for traders.
The idea of setting up the traders’ welfare board had cropped up following preparation undertaken by the Commercial Tax department for implementation of goods and services tax (GST) in the state.
Official sources said the Chief Minister during a presentation by the officials on implementation of GST had underlined the need for making administrative structure easy and for creating a favourable situation for business in the state.
