In a novel gesture, the meeting of the board of directors of Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (UJVNL) was held at the project site of the under-construction 120 MW Byasi Hydro electric scheme on Tuesday. Informing about the meeting, the secretary power and chairperson UJVNL, Radhika Jha said that it is for the first time since creation of the corporation that the board meeting was held at a construction site which is very good initiative.
She said that Bysai project is an important project and one of the priorities of the Trivendra Singh Rawat government. Jha said that the objective of holding the meeting of board of directors at project site is to ensure timely completion of the project.
She directed the managing director UJVNL to ensure that the quality of the construction is maintained along with speedy disposal of the work.
She further said that since most of the projects of the UJVNL are situated in the remote areas the physical inspection of the site by the directors at a same time is never done. “It was thus decided to hold the board meeting at the project site,” she said and added that the presence of the board of directors at the project site would encourage the workers deployed there.
The board members inspected the power house, tunnels, diversion and other components of the project and gave necessary instructions to the officers concerned.
