Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Health Minister Satyendra Jain on Thursday inaugurated the facility for open-heart surgery among others at Rajiv Gandhi Super-Specialty Hospital in Tahirpur area of East Delhi.
The Chief Minister said, "I am happy that so many facilities are coming up in the Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital. I want to congratulate all the people who have supported us in initiating these facilities for the people of Delhi."
Kejriwal also said that back in 2010, GTB hospital was the only hospital with adequate infrastructure and healthcare facilities for the poor. "The hospitals were crowded with patients, and I used to appreciate the patience of those doctors who used to deal with so many patients at a single point of time," he said.
Talking about expansion of health services in the city, he said "Delhi has witnessed an expansion in health services and many new facilities have been increased at each level. We are expanding primary healthcare facilities in the state, he said, adding that 300 mohalla clinics have already been constructed in Delhi.
The construction of polyclinics in large numbers has also expanded healthcare facilities on the secondary level, he said, adding that in the tertiary level, several multi-specialty and super-specialty hospitals have been constructed to provide adequate healthcare facilities in the city.
The chief minister further said that a huge inflow of patients is a big challenge for the government as people are shifting from private hospitals to government hospitals for treatments after services have improved.
