With the message of ‘drive for road safety’ the Governor of Uttarakhand Baby Rani Maurya flagged the second FICCI FLO women’s car rally on Sunday. Expressing her thoughts on the occasion she said that road safety is one of the major issues that needs to be addressed effectively.
The authority concerned should also take measures, especially in the accident prone areas.
Addressing the event the governor said, “In order to keep the roads safer the government can make policies or can give more value to the road engineering but it is also the responsibility of the drivers to keep the road safer. It is very tough to express in words the loss of the families who have lost their loved ones in accidents. It is important that each one of us take great care so that there are no road accidents.”
She further said, “Women are not only drivers but they are responsible for driving their family ahead as well. Every field needs women and it is important that all the women working in any field should do it with utmost sincerity.”
Speaking during the event Uttarakhand Transport Minister Yashpal Arya said,“Road safety is one of the main issues we are dealing with. The State government is trying its best to make road accident cases minimal. It is important that we all spread awareness regarding road safety. As per the request by the FICCI FLO, we will give free driving lessons to 100 women of the city,” he added.
