Film fest to showcase State’s potential on entertainment front

The stage is all set for the upcoming Jharkhand International Film Festival Awards (JIFFA) – 2019. After receiving applause at the International arena for the first edition of JIFFA- 2018, the organisers are back with the grand event to showcase the potential of Jharkhand on the entertainment front. Getting bigger and better with every passing year, the event will see the participation of several national and international artists, catching the attention of all yet again.

JP Dutta, Salil Ankola, Arbaaz Khan, Rohit Roy, Ratan Rajput, Jimi Shergil, Raghu Ram among many others have given their consent to participate in the second edition of JIFFA – 2019. The three-day event will be held at Mega Sports Complex – Khelgaon from February 1. Besides the screening of movies, a series of events will be also be hosted by the team JIFFA - 2019.

According to the organisers 12 regional films alongwith 15 features films will be screened during the three-day programme. “Special attention will be on children films and feature films based on the life of Mahatma Gandhi. As many as 40 short documentaries will be also shown during the event,” said a communiqué.

As per the programme schedule, legendary film makers, renowned actors,      television artists, delegates from Israel will arrive in the Capital City on January 31. Israel is the focus country of JIFFA – 2019. Delegates from Japan, Russia, Costa-Rica, Qatar will also participate in the programme.

The event will begin with the screening of Nagpuri film ‘Phoolmania’, lined up with cultural programmes by Jharkhand’s stars like folk artist Nandlal Nayak, ‘Shivaay’ fame Megha Sriram Dalton, regional artists—Monika Mundu and Jyoti Sahu including a few  international artists.

Joint master class of Director Rahul Rawail, Gautam Ghosh, JP Dutta, Dan Wolman and Liraz Charhi has been planned on the inaugural day with the students of mass communication and regional film makers. Meanwhile, on the second day, the focus will be on talk show and speech about ‘Gandhi’ at Tana Bhagat Indoor Stadium. The media students will interact with the film makers and discuss about the adaptation of Gandhian principles in films, tele-films and documentaries. Besides, another talk show on low budget film making and tips of financial benefits will be shared with the students and people associated with entertainment industry.

Also, free screening of motivational children films provided by Directorate of Film Festivals for 5000 government/ private school students will be organised on second day. The day will conclude with the celebrity cricket league match.

Key events of the concluding day includes, JIFFA-19 award ceremony, talk show on ‘Development of film industry in Jharkhand to boost State’s repute on international arena’ and special screening of Rajasthani feature film – ‘Mati Hello Padey Rey’.

A high-octane performance of Megha Sriram Dalton, Salem group, Reuma Mantzur – CulturalAttache at Israel Embassy including other foreign delegates will mesmerise the audiences on the finale.

JIFFA being organised since 2018 to promote regional films, local artists at a global platform has partnered with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), The Film television Producers Guild of India Ltd., Indian Latin American Chamber of Commerce (ILACC) and Directorate of Films Festivals.

“The event will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Raghubar Das, while Governor Draupadi Murmu has given her consent to be the Guest of Honour on the concluding day. Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Amit Khare will also participate in the programme. Chief Secretary, Sudhir Tripathi will be the Chief Guest in the celebrity cricket league,” said Pankaj Soni, Convener – JIIFA 2019.
