Appreciating efforts by State Cyber Cell in busting a fake call center operated in Indore targeting US citizens, the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) team of the United States presented plaque of citation to DGP VK Singh at the State Police Headquarters on Wednesday.
The fake call center operated from Indore was found operating and targeted US citizens. The fraudsters were involved in duping US citizens and would extort money in the name of security issues using their social security numbers.
The FBI team reached the police headquarters to express their gratitude towards Madhya Pradesh Police and were pleased with their efforts which helped in busting the network of fraudsters. At the meeting, DGP Singh assured the FBI team that Madhya Pradesh police will help victim US citizens targeted by the cyber criminals and provide information required for the investigation. The FBI team arrived with the Special Director General of Police (DG) Cyber Branch, Purushottam Sharma to meet the DGP. The team comprised of FBI Special Agent Mike Stukel and Police Liaisoning Officer in American Embassy Manu Sharma met the DGP. The FBI team appreciated the control of cyber crime by the Madhya Pradesh police and disclosing the incidents of cyber crime.
Special Director General of Police Cyber Branch Purushottam Sharma said that information has been shared with the FBI team from the US. This will help to identify the American citizens suffering from cyber crime and help them. The US FBI agency functions on the lines of the functioning of Indian CBI.
