Exit polls results on various news channels on Sunday after the final phase voting ended for parliamentary polls, showed a neck-to-neck fight between the BJP and Congress in Chhattisgarh.
Exit polls results predicted a slight edge in favour of the BJP in Chhattisgarh which has total 11 Lok Sabha seats.
The BJP had won 10 seats in 2014 parliamentary polls in the state but Congress swept to power in December last year in the assembly polls by winning 68 out of the 90 seats. Political analysts were predicting a clean sweep for the resurgent Congress in the mineral-rich State.
Exit polls results have surprised many in Chhattisgarh and state’s ruling Congress has outrightly rejected the exits polls results saying the party would sweep once results are declared officially on May 23.
The BJP too rejected exit polls findings for Chhattisgarh and claimed it would repeat the 2014 performance despite it performed poorly in assembly polls barely six months back.
