The northern zonal council meeting will be held on September 20 in Chandigarh under the chairmanship of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Earlier, the meeting was scheduled to be held on September 3 in the city but was postponed.
The meeting will be attended by the Chief Ministers of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and the Administrator of union territory of Chandigarh.
A senior officer of UT Administration confirmed that the meeting will be held on September 20 and would be chaired by Union Home Minister.
Punjab Governor and UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore will attend the meeting to represent Chandigarh and is expected to raise the issues of urban rail transit system, air pollution and construction of southern ring road to de-congest the city.
The inter-state issues likely to be taken up at the meeting included boundary dispute between Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, enhancing capacity of head regulator of Indira Gandhi Feeder at Harike among others.
Key issues related to the city included in the agenda of the meeting are renaming of civil air terminal at Chandigarh, direct connectivity with the Chandigarh international airport, construction of ring road and release of grants to Panjab University.
The previous northern zonal council meeting was held under the chairmanship of the then Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in 2017 in Chandigarh.
