406 cyber crime cases: 105 held in 5 months

As many as 406 cyber crime cases were reported and 105 persons, including three women, arrested in the State in five months by May 2019.

Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra informed this in the State Assembly in response to a question of Congress member Narasingha Mishra.

While a total of 406 cases of cyber crimes were reported by May 2019, 102 men and three women have been arrested and chargsheets have been filed in four cases, informed the Minister. 

In 2018, a total of 867 such cases of cyber crimes were reported and 266 persons arrested. Chargesheets were filed in 144 cases, the Minister said.

The Minster informed that 20 cyber crime cases were filed in different police stations in Balangiri district in 2018 and chargesheets were filed in two cases only. Twenty-three such cases were filed in the district by May 2019 during the current year and chargesheets have been filed in two cases only.
