The sleuths of New Delhi district of Delhi Police have arrested two members of infamous ‘Thak Thak gang’ involved in cases of theft and snatching from slow moving cars at red lights across the national Capital. Police said that these members were active in Delhi and its peripheral areas.
The accused have been identified as Jabbar and Mohammad Furkan both residents of Meerut in Uttar Pradesh. According to Madhur Verma, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), New Delhi district, in view of the incidents of thefts by Thak Thak Gangs and street crimes in the area, the police presence was enhanced and various teams of police personnel were formed to keep a check on such activities.
"On June 14 about 5.00 pm a police team present at Janpath Red Light, Outer Circle of Connaught Place heard someone screaming chor-chor (thief-thief) following which the team immediately responded and rushed towards the place from where the screams were heard," said the DCP.
"They saw two persons running towards Sansad Marg and caught them after a brief chase. The victim Vikram Singh who was laso present at the spot reported that these accused knocked his car when his car was standing at Red Light and after distracting him; they stole his purse from the dashboard of the car and ran away," said the DCP.
