Jharkhand has been attracting filmmakers over some time now. After blockbuster hits like MS Dhoni – An Untold Story and Begam Jaan, more and more directors are stepping into Jharkhand and are getting mesmerized by its landscape and culture.
Filming of the upcoming Hindi movie, ‘Othello of McCluskieganj’ which will be directed by Ishtiyak Khan and produced by Vikas Vashisht will start from Wednesday.
The launch of the movie was held on Tuesday at Suchna Bhawan by V Square Films. Padma Shri recipient Mukund Nayak presided over the event as the Chief Guest. The star-cast of the movie will include the renowned actor, Sanjay Mishra, who will be coming to Jharkhand, for the shoot, in the month of October.
The movie will also include several actors from Jharkhand including Deepak lohar, a well known name in Jollywood. On this occasion, Producer, Vikas Vashisht said, “We are thankful to the Govt of Jharkhand for supporting us whole heartedly. As soon as we stepped into Jharkhand for a recce, we instantly fell in love with the natural beauty this place offers.
We couldn’t resist but finalized McCluskieganj for shooting our movie.”
Vashisht confirmed the budget of the movie to be around Rs 4-5 cr. He further informed that the promotions of the movie will happen as per the standard procedures. Having PVR as their branding partner, Vashisht is hopeful for a wide distribution of the movie. His next movie which is based on sports will be shot in Ranchi’s Khelgaon.
Director, Ishtiyak Khan, said, “The hilly terrain that Jharkhand has is exactly in line with the script. When I visited McCluskieganj, I could visualize the movie in front of me. We have a bunch of talented artists who will be doing justice to their roles.
The shooting of the movie will commence from Wednesday and will go on for eight days. The second stage of shooting will take place in October for 20-25 days.”
Ranchi based filmmaker Rishi Prakash Mishra, known for directing Ajab Singh ki Gazab Kahani was also present and will play a role in this movie.
He said, “Bollywood is known to attract tourists to several destinations across the world. With the film fraternity finding Jharkhand to be an ideal shoot location, there will be a rise in the influx of tourists from all across the globe.”
The film is based of Shakespeare famous play, Othello, but with several tweaks to the original plot. Falling under the genre of dark comedy, the film promises to take the audience on a laughter riot.
