The State Government would publicize its film policy during 49th International Film Festival (IFFI) starting in Goa from Wednesday. The step will provide employment opportunity to artists of the state and help in establishing Jharkhand as a tourist destination.
Addressing media persons at Suchna Bhawan on Tuesday Secretary, Department of Information and Public Relations cum Principle Secretary to the Chief Minister Sunil Kumar Barnwal, said a stall is being set up to encourage the Jharkhand Film Policy at the IFFI, in which all kinds of information related to the Jharkhand Film Policy will be given. He added that Jharkhand has been selected as the Focus State in IFFI which is being held in Goa from November 21-28. “It's a matter of pride. For the first time in this festival a State is being included as a focus State” Dr Barnwal stated. He informed that 212 films of different languages and from more than 68 countries will be screened at the IFFI. Seven films made in Jharkhand including MSD The Untold Story, Death in the Ganj, Ranchi Diary, Begum Jan, Mor Gaon Mor Desh, Panchlet and Ajab Singh ki Gajab Kahani will also be screened along with other films. The film festival will celebrate November 24 as Jharkhand Day.
Secretary, Department of Tourism, Arts and Sports, Rahul Sharma informed that on Jharkhand Day, cultural group will perform Jharkhandi folk dance, which includes Nagpuri, Paika and Chhau dance. He opined that people from the country and the world will know Jharkhand's art culture through cultural program.
Director, Information and Public Relations Department, Ram Lakhan Prasad Gupta, joint secretary, Department of Tourism, Arts and Sports Department Rajiv Ranjan along with others were present on the occasion.
