SAD’s women wing, Istri Akali Dal, on Thursday led a protest against Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh outside his official residence against the sexual harassment of a senior IAS officer.
Demonstrating against the “obnoxious behaviour” of the Cabinet Minister, the Istri Akali Dal demanded his immediate dismissal from the Government. The women leaders also gave a memorandum at the Chief Minister’s residence asking that a “safe workplace” environment should be ensured for all women employees.
Lamenting that the Chief Minister was not taking strict action against the “perpetrator” of sexual harassment, IAD district presidents from the state, led by Kuldeep Kaur Kang, asked that the name of the Cabinet Minister should immediately be released so that the entire Cabinet does not bear the brunt of being accused of serious allegations of sexual harassment.
The Memorandum has also asked for dismissal of the Minister and a case be registered against him under the law for this serious crime against women. “We demand exemplary action against the culprit so that a message goes loud and clear that sexual harassment of women will not be tolerated in the state,” said IAD Mohali district president Kang.
