Nat’l meet on child rights in KIIT today

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (OSCPCR) in collaboration with UNICEF, Odisha and Women and Child Development Department would organise a two-day national convention on child rights from November 1 in KIIT to mark the 8th foundation day of the commission. Around 100 representatives including government officials, chairpersons, members and office-bearers of 16 other State Commission for Protection of Child Rights and UNICEF would participate. OSCPCR Chairperson Sandhyabati Pradhan said the convention would develop a common understanding on the role and functions of the commissions in upholding child rights in the States.

Brahmakumari Rani to visit city on Nov 1

 Bhubaneswar: Female Guinness World Records holder for pulling heaviest vehicle of 8,835.5 kg, Rani Raikwar, Brahmakumari Rani, would come on a visit here to attend a programme on Thursday (November 1). This was informed by Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya coordinator Brahmakumari Geeta at a Press meet held here on Tuesday. Rani set the record in the Guinness World Records on March 3, 2011

ECoR observes Rashtriya Ekta Diwas 

Bhubaneswar: East Coast Railway General Manager Umesh Singh on Wednesday flagged off ‘the Run for Unity’ rally here in which a number of railway employees participated. Singh also administered oath to the employees and officers on the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas and offered floral tributes on photograph of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

CSpur DAVians participate in‘Run for Unity’ 

Bhubaneswar: Over 3,000 students and staffs of the DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur  participated in the ‘Run for Unity’ around Sailashree Vihar locality to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel observed as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on Wednesday. School Principal Dr KC Satapathy, Coordinator Indira Bhattacharya, Headmistress Sanjita Sahoo, Supervisors Niharika Gantayat and Pramod Kumar Patra offered floral tributes to Patel. Dr Satapathy urged the students to follow the ideas and ideals of the Iron Man of India. Students also performed programmes like chorus, dance on cultural unity and skit show to mark the day.

DAV Kalinga Nagar observes Rastriya Ekta Diwas 

Bhubaneswar: The DAV Public School, Kalinga Nagar here observed the Rastriya Ekta Diwas in commemoration of the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. School Principal Bipin Kumar Sahoo, teachers and students offered floral tribute to Patel and took the National Unity Day pledge. A Prabhat Pheree was organised to mark the occasion in which over one thousand students and teachers went round the peripheral areas giving slogans of unity and patriotism.

 

SBI begins observing Vig Awareness Week

  Bhubaneswar: The State Bank of India (SBI) has started observing the Vigilance Awareness Week here from Sunday. The observance commenced with administration of a trilingual pledge to the bank’s staff members at the head officer here administered by General Managers Sudhir Thakore and Goutam Bhattacharya and DGM Gouranga Chandra Behera.

GIFT holds meet on Computational Intelligence 

Bhubaneswar: A two-day International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Data Analytics (ICCIDA) 2018 was organised by the Gandhi Institute for Technology (GIFT), Bhubaneswar Department of Computer Science and Engineering concluded here recently. National Dong (HWA) University, Taiwan’s Prof Sheng Lung Peng, TCS Bhubaneswar centre head Manoj Panda and GIFT vice-chairman Patitapaban Panda attended as guests. Over 70 scientists, professors and delegates from India, Taiwan, Singapore and China participated. Among others, GIFT Principal Dr SK Rao, Prof SN Mohanty, Vice-Principal Dr Alok Mohapatra, Prof Pratyush Ranjan Mahaptra and Prof Dr.Sujit Kumar Panda were present.
