Haryana Government has approved the Haryana film policy for the development of Haryanvi and non- Haryanvi cinema and to create a film friendly environment in the state.
Under the policy, film will be accorded the status of industry and benefits available under the Enterprise Promotion Policy of the state will apply, said an official spokesman.
Safety and security will be provided to the filmmakers during the shooting in the state. Besides, to promote the spirit of cinema in the state, film festival will be organised and scholarship for girl students of Haryana (Production and Direction) will be given, the spokesman said.
The policy was approved the state cabinet on Wednesday evening.
Under this, film awards will also be organized in three categories which are the Awards of Excellence for Haryanvi Films, Best film promoting Haryana as a destination and special acknowledgement for technical excellence in Haryanvi film making.
As per the film policy, the films will be classified in seven categories including Haryanvi film, non-Haryanvi Film, international films, mega projects, short film, documentary film or debut film and incentives will be provided on credit point system.
As per the policy, 50 per cent of the total budget will be allocated for the Haryanvi films. Not more than 12 films will be given financial assistance in a year and one film will not avail more than one financial benefit, the spokesman said.
The objectives of film policy included to channelize energy of youth in creative field like film/cinema, to promote and preserve the culture, folk, music, heritage and traditions of Haryana, to explore and participate in the employment opportunities and skill development related to film field, building brand identity of State, to promote Haryana as a favoured destination for films, and development of Haryanvi Film Talent, with special emphasis on gender equality and promotion of women active participation, he added.
